The festive season is usually a time for eating and drinking. As a matter of fact, my plans for this Christmas period is to eat and drink well. This is the time many people miss out on their diets and let it loose a little as they spend time with family and friends. It is usually packed with several activities, from concerts to end of year parties, and even if you are alone, you just want to take a bottle more than you usually would, I mean it’s Christmas.
And to be honest, that is totally fine, at least by me. What if I tell you, you can enjoy the Festive season and still keep Fit, of course you can, it’s not either side of a coin, it’s more like several pieces of a puzzle.
If you have decided to take your physical fitness seriously then let me guide you with these pieces that can help you keep Fit even during the Festive season.
Drink Lots of Water
Water helps metabolism and faster digestion of food. And since this period you plan to eat and drink more alcohol than you usually would, it would be a wise decision to also increase your water intake. Drinking more water will help you feel better, look better, stay hydrated while flushing out toxic toxins from your body.

Move Around
To be honest I think it would be a boring thing to stay indoors all day especially during the festive season, a lot is happening outside, from concerts to family gatherings to shopping or window shopping, whichever your budget can afford, keep moving no matter what. Visit a friend, go and see Santa clause. Keep moving, this will help burn some calories and keep the body active.
Play
With people more relaxed at this season, it is a good time to play around, dance around and let loose generally. Let your body enjoy the cool breeze, take a walk, snow fight with your friends or children. This way, it helps to keep the body active, burn some calories while still having so much fun. It is also a good way to bond with your loved ones.

Eat Lots of Fruits and Vegetables
Fruits and vegetables can be filling, they digest really fast, and considering that most of what we will be eating during the festive season are fried and greasy foods, Fruits and vegetables are a good way to compensate for the excesses. It also has many health benefits including antioxidants which aid ease of digestion. You can read about more benefits from Orlando Health
Stay Active
Keep moving no matter how little. Watch that 10 minutes’ workout video and follow through, a 15 minutes HIIT is better than nothing, take a walk down the local store, park your car a farther distance than you usually would. Use the stairs and leave the elevator or escalator, for extra points you can be late for your flight so you have to run at the airport (just kidding, maybe not). Yes, you may not have the time and schedule to go through your usual workout routine, your gyms may be closed for the holidays but your body does not close. Do Something, no matter how little, even if it is 100 jump ropes. you can check out some videos from Growwithjo Doing a little every day is better than doing a lot someday. The aim here is consistency, not about the intensity.

Set Realistic Goals
Don’t be too hard on yourself, you’re trying to stay fit, not compete in the Olympics, well except you are competing in the Olympics. Your goals will need to align to the festive season as well. Like I said earlier, you may not be able to follow through on your usual routine, but be sure to set goals that are realistic, matching with the season at hand. Don’t beat yourself up for missing a workout, don’t walk around with that guilt of thinking you could have done better. Could you have? Yes, maybe, but you didn’t and that’s fine.
Rest
This should probably be the most important, parties after parties, events after events, from the dance floor to screaming your lungs out to the lyrics from your favorite musician. Yes, the festive seasons has it all, and you want to take it all in. that’s fine, just take some time to rest. You are not a machine; you are a human being. Your body needs rest; your body needs time to recover. Rest is a very important aspect to your wellbeing and fitness in general.
Conclusion:
While you are trying to get it all in, do all these and you should be fine. If you enjoyed this post please like, comment and share with your friends and foes. Compliments of the season to you and yours.
